01The workforce — every Carlyto is one of a kind

Same crew, no two alike. Each unit is generated at mint from twelve trait families — chassis metal, optics, eyes, visor, headgear, mouth, shoulders, chest module, tool, plating, companion and background ward — a trait space deep enough that no two units will ever repeat. About 1 in 50 leaves the foundry in obsidian; 1 in 100 wears the crown. Rarity is bragging rights and card cosmetics — it never changes what a worker earns on site.

02The job board — what your workers can build

The board is the game. Grey Carlytos are already at work for other holders; gold ones are yours. Your idle workers wait in the yard — drag one onto a site to send a squad to work, or use − / +. Tap i on a site for the full brief, then hit Run → to see what the shift pays. One Carlyto = $10 of budget; a job starts only the day its crew is complete.

03How a shift works

Mint your crew

$10 in ETH per Carlyto. Mint one, mint a hundred. Your first shift also issues your Work Card — blank, in your name, bound to your wallet.

Send them to a site

Pick a job, pick how many workers, pick how long — from the job's minimum shift up to the end of the season. The workers lock; nothing commits them past the season's close.

They earn while they build

Each worker accrues $WORK every day, at the rate posted for that job. Longer, riskier, bigger jobs pay a better rate. Nothing accrues in the yard.

Clock out, get stamped

At the end of the shift the workers come home, the $WORK is credited, and the job is engraved on your Work Card — filled in proportion to what you actually carried.

Walk off the site early and you lose the whole shift. Unstake before the end date and all the $WORK that worker had accrued is burned — it does not go to the house, and it does not go to the other crews either. It simply stops existing. The Carlyto itself always comes back to you; only the unearned points burn. No exceptions, no partial credit, no appeals.

04Run the numbers — build your shift

Pick a site, a crew size and a duration. Watch your card fill in real time. The fill is driven by worker-days — one Carlyto working one day. One worker for two months on L’Observatoire is 60 worker-days; 100 workers for a full season on La Bourse is 9,000. Volume and patience both count, and they compound.

05The Work Card — and the island that shows it

The card arrives blank and nominative on your first shift. It cannot be sold, transferred or faked — it is the only object here that is purely a record of what you did. But a card is a poor way to look at a year of work, so the record has a face: your island. Every level of it was bought with worker-days. None of it can be bought with money.

Site rule 01

Is the supply really uncapped?

Yes. There is no scarcity game on the worker itself — scarcity lives in the jobs, which have fixed crew sizes and close when full. The rare object is a filled card, not a jpeg.

Site rule 02

What is $WORK worth?

Today, nothing outside the game. $WORK is a game currency: earned in play, spent in play. No convertibility, no market, no pool, no price — and the interface will never pretend otherwise. Making it transferable is where we want to go, and it is a question for lawyers before it is a question for engineers: it will happen if and when the framing holds, and we are promising no date. It is also the only thing that can repair a worker that breaks down. That is all we will say for now.

Can I sell a Carlyto?

A worker in the yard, yes — it's a standard ERC-721. A worker on site is locked until its shift ends. The Work Card is bound to your wallet and never transferable.

Site rule 04

Where does the forfeited $WORK go?

Nowhere. It is burned. Not to the house, not to the crews who stayed — nobody is paid by somebody else's decision to quit. An earlier draft redistributed it; that turned a penalty into a transfer between holders, which is a very different thing the day $WORK can be transferred at all. Burning keeps it a penalty.

Site rule 05

What if a job never fills?

Capital is only deployed when the crew is complete. If a site doesn't fill by its deadline, workers are released and the capital returns untouched — with the days served still counted on your card.

Site rule 06

Is there a tier above this?

No. There is one Carlyto Worker, at one price, and what separates two holders is what their workers actually did. Earlier drafts had founding tiers above this one, and a ladder of ranks that promised engraved names and reserved allocations at the top; both promised things a project without a legal framing cannot promise, so both are gone. If they come back one day, they will come back written down, not implied.
